Web Design Costs in Ireland: What Affects the Price
The honest answer is that it depends on what the website has to do. Anyone quoting a figure before asking what yours needs to do is pricing something other than your business.
That is an unsatisfying answer on its own, so this page covers what actually moves the price, what is included as standard in our work, what you pay for after the site goes live, and how to compare two quotes that differ by a thousand euro.
Why there is no price list on this page
Every site is quoted on its own. A four-page site for a tradesman and a shop selling forty products are different pieces of work, and a fixed package price would mean either overcharging the first or cutting corners on the second.
It also means you are not paying for anything you do not need. If your business does not require a booking system, you are not buying a package that includes one.
What moves the price
In practice, most of the variation comes down to a handful of things.
How much of the site is unique. Six pages of individual content take longer than three pages plus a list. This is usually the largest single factor.
Whether the content exists. If you have your copy written and usable photographs, the build is quicker. If the words need writing and the photos need sourcing or taking, that is real work and it is priced as such.
What the site has to do beyond informing people. A contact form is standard. Taking bookings, processing payments, managing stock or handling logins are each a separate piece of work.
Whether we are starting fresh or moving something. Rebuilding an existing site means dealing with its content, its history and its search rankings. That can be more work than starting clean, or less, depending on the state of it.
How quickly you need it. Normal timelines cost less than compressed ones.
What is included as standard
Some things are not optional extras here, because a site without them does not work properly:
- A design built for your business rather than a template with your logo dropped into it
- On-page SEO built in during the build, not added afterwards as a separate service
- A layout that works on phones, which is where most of your visitors will be
- A WordPress site you can log into and edit yourself
- Direct contact with the person building it, from the first conversation to launch

What you pay for after the site is built
The build is not the only cost, and you should know the rest before you commit to anything.
Domain registration and hosting are ongoing annual or monthly costs, paid to whoever supplies them. Some premium plugins or themes carry their own annual licence, and where a project needs one we will tell you before it is used rather than after.
Maintenance is optional. Some clients handle their own updates and only call when something needs doing. Others prefer a maintenance arrangement so it is somebody’s responsibility. Both are reasonable.
Comparing two quotes that differ
When quotes come back at very different prices, the difference is almost always in what is included rather than in one designer being better value than another. These questions will show you where:
- Is this built for me, or a template with my content in it? Both are legitimate. They are not the same product and should not cost the same.
- Do I own the site, and can I move it to another host? Some platforms will not let you take your site with you when you leave.
- Who writes the words? Frequently assumed to be included and frequently not.
- Is SEO part of the build or an additional service? A site built without it needs the work doing later, which costs more than doing it once.
- What happens after launch, and what does that cost? Ask specifically about updates, backups and who to ring when something breaks.
- How many rounds of changes are included, and what happens after that?
Ask those six of everyone quoting and the differences usually explain themselves.
Getting a figure for your own project
Send a rough idea of the pages you need, whether you have content ready, and anything the site has to do beyond giving people information. That is enough to come back with a real number rather than a range.

It depends mainly on how many pages need individual content, whether your copy and photographs already exist, and whether the site has to do anything beyond informing people. Those three account for most of the difference between one quote and another.
Because a fixed price means either charging a small site for things it does not need, or building a larger one to a budget that does not fit it. Every site here is quoted on its own.
